MARRIAGE OF MISS DORIS PATTERN.
The marriage was solemnised on Saturday at the parish church of Miss Doris Miriam Pattern, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Pattern, of Manor Farm, St. Germans, to Mr. Stanley Elms, youngest son of the late Mr. Edward Elms and Mrs. F. Elms, 14, Queen’s Avenue, Lynn. The choral service was conducted by the vicar (Rev. A. Τ. Richards), and Miss H. O. Hopking was at the organ. The hymns “Lead us, Heavenly Father,” and “O Perfect Love” were sung. The bride, who was given in marriage by her brother, Mr. Leslie Pattern, was accompanied by Miss Muriel Pattern (her sister), and Miss Hilda Elms (niece of the bridegroom), and Master Maurice Elms was page. The bride was gowned in cyster satin beauté, with train, and silk net veil embroidered with crystals. The veil had been loaned by a cousin of the bride. Her flowers were Harrisii lilies. The bridesmaids wore full-length gowns of powder-blue moiré satin, with shoes and headdress to tone, and they carried posies of pink and yellow carnations and Scotch heather. After the ceremony a reception was held in the Church Room, and Mr. and Mrs. Elms later left for Canterbury. The bride’s travelling-costume was of autumn-blue, with hat, shoes and gloves to tone, and travelling-coat to correspond. Amongst many gifts were a cheque from the managing director and staff of the West Norfolk Farmers’ Manure Company, the bridegroom’s employers, and a cheque from the directors of the Boal Quay Wharfingers Ltd., where the bride had been employed.
