Beryl Catherine Walsham (1934-2018)

Beryl Catherine Walsham was born in 1934 in Holbeach, Lincolnshire, the daughter of Charles James Walsham and Minnie (née Godfrey). She married Roland Albert Pattern in 1956 and there are two children. She died in 2018 in Long Sutton, Lincolnshire.

At Gedney parish church on Saturday the wedding took place between Miss Beryl Catherine Walsham, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Walsham, of Clark’s Hill farm, Gedney Fen, and Mr. Ronald Albert Pattern, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs A. L. Pattern of Station Road, Long Sutton. The service was conducted by the Rev. W. L. Guyler. Mr. H. Piggins was the organist.

The bride, given away by her father, wore a white embroidered dress of net over silk underskirt, headdress of rhinestones and pearls and a full-length nylon veil. She carried a bouquet of red carnations and fern.

She was attended by four bridesmaids: Jean Walsham (bride’s sister) and Jean Suckling who wore sky blue nylon ballerina-length dresses with headdresses of blue feathers, and Patricia Pattern (bridegroom’s sister) and Joan Fensom (bride’s cousin) who wore cyclamen pink nylon ballerina-length dresses with headdresses of pink feathers. Each carried a bouquet of pink carnations. Mr. Marcus Pattern, the bridegroom’s brother, was best man.

The reception, held at Sutton St. James Institute, was attended by 115 guests. Later the couple left for Blackpool, the bride travelling in a tweed dress under a green coat with black accessories.

The bridegroom is a fruit salesman. Future home for Mr. and Mrs. Pattern is “The Delph,” Long Sutton.

Beryl Catherine Pattern of Long Sutton, passed away in Kimberley Care Home on Thursday 11th October, aged 83 years. Much loved wife of Roland, dearly loved mother, grandma and great-grandma who will be sadly missed by all her family and friends. Funeral Service at St. Mary’s Church, Long Sutton on Thursday 8th November at 1.30pm, followed by interment. Family flowers only please, donations preferred to Marie Curie may be given at the service
