Mr C J Walsham
Mr Charles James Walsham, of 54 Langwith Gardens, Holbeach, died at home on July 23, after an illness of three weeks, aged 83.
Born at Clark’s Hill Farm, Gedney Fen, he was the son of the late James and Frances Walsham and was educated at Sutton St James School and Moulton Grammar School. He was a retired farmer.
Mr Walsham was sidesman at Gedney Parish Church and founder member of Spalding and District Indoor Bowling Club. He was a life member of Carters Park Bowling Club, Probus League, Lincolnshire Vice President Association and Holbeach United Services Club. Не played outdoor and indoors bowls for over 25 years.
He was the widower of Mrs Minnie Walsham (nee Godfrey) and Mrs Hilda Ivy Walsham (nee Bird) and is survived by his sons, Mr James Alan Walsham of Holbeach Fen, Mr Charles Eric Walsham, of Gedney Fen, Mr Neville Percy Walsham, of Bourne and daughters Mrs Beryl Catherine Pattern, of Long Sutton, and Mrs Jean Anderson, of Spalding, eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
A funeral service was conducted by the Rev David Bratley and Father Paul Noble at St Mary Magdalene Church, Gedney on July 30, followed by buriel in Sutton St James churchyard. Mrs D Twell was organist.
