Horace Stanley Pattern was born in 1903 in Long Sutton, Lincolnshire, the son of Albert Edward Pattern and Mary Jane (née Eudale). He married Annie Nelson in 1928 and there are eight known children. He died in 1957 in Dewsbury, Yorkshire.

Research Notes
Following Horace’s birth, his mother Mary suffered from acute post-natal depression and as a result was to spend the rest of her life in Bracebridge Mental Hospital until her death in 1938. Horace was given into the care of Mary’s sister, Mrs. Sarah Coote. The family moved north to Dewsbury prior to the 1921 Census.
