Albert Edward Pattern was born in 1874 in Sutton Bridge, Lincolnshire, the son of Michael Pattern and Rosanna (née Delahoy). He married Mary Jane Eudale in 1899 and there are three known children. He died in 1963 in Long Sutton, Lincolnshire.

From around the 1920s, his housekeeper was widow Alice Turner (1867-1952) who is listed residing in his house in the 1939 Register. She continued to live with him until her death in November 1952.

Death of a veteran Methodist stalwart
Hundreds of sympathisers packed Long Sutton Methodist church on Tuesday for the funeral service of 89-year-old Mr. Albert Edward Pattern, of 51 London Road, Long Sutton, who died in the Holbeach Hospital the previous Friday.
Mr. Pattern was well known in the Long Sutton area, where he had served as a local preacher for over 50 years. He used to walk in earlier years to Holbeach and Gedney to lead a church service.
Born at Long Sutton, where he spent all his life, Mr. Pattern was an agricultural worker and gardener until he retired at the age of 60.
Since his retirement, he had spent a great deal of his time helping and working in the gardens of other old-age pensioners in the village.
He was a familiar figure at the Long Sutton Old Age Pensioners Club, always wearing a flower in his buttonhole. He was a committee member.
A widower, he is survived by one of his two sons, Mr. A. L. Pattern, the Long Sutton produce agent, 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
The service was conducted by the Minister. Rev. Alan Taplin, of Sutton Bridge and Rev. Frank M. Amery, of Holbeach. Mrs. Bollons of Fleet was organist.
A choir of old age pensioners sang two hymns. The pensioners were: Mr. G. Barker, Mr. and Mrs. J. Watson, Mrs. Gillett, Mrs. Mountain and Mrs. Bunn.
Mourners were: Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Pattern, Mrs. A. Pattern (son and daughters-in-law); Mr. and Mrs. C. Dancer, Mr. and Mrs. R. Pattern, the Rev. M. Pattern, Mr. and Mrs. T. Pattern, Mr. and Mrs. E. Pattern, Mr. D. Pattern (grandchildren). Mrs. C. Tingey, Mr. and Mrs. G. Barrett (nephews and niece); Mr. and Mrs, E. Barrett. Mrs. Wilkinson, Mrs. Morley.
Among the many other sympathisers were members of other Methodist churches in South Lincolnshire, of the Long Sutton Congregational Baptist and parish churches, and the Old Age Pensioners Club.
