Research Notes
Susan Elizabeth Tuxworth departed from London on 16 September 1885 aboard the Liguria and arrived on 3 November 1885 at Launceston, Tasmania. Her travelling companion was 21 year old Annie Pattern, who would become her sister-in-law when she married Hewson Tuxworth on 10 November at Launceston.

MISS TUXWORTH.
The death occurred at the residence of her nephew, Mr. Robt. Tuxworth, Mengha, of Miss Susan Elizabeth Tuxworth on the 26th inst. at the age of 83 years, after an illness extending over several months.
She came out from England in 1885, spending some time at Barrington and in Victoria, and later taking up her residence with her brother, the late Mr. H. Tuxworth, at Mengha, and was of a quiet and kindly disposition and very highly respected by all who knew her.
The funeral took place in the Brethren’s cemetery, Forest, on Sunday, amid a large number of friends and relatives, the chief mourners being the four nephews, Jesse, Wallace, Harry and Robert Tuxworth, who were also the bearers, together with two great-nephews, Dave and Lloyd Tuxworth.
The Rev. R. A. Blackwood conducted service in the home and also at the graveside.
