Michael Pattern (1811-1896)

Michael Pattern was born in 1811 in Walpole St Peter, Norfolk, the son of Michael Pattern and Mary (née Payne). He married Eliza and there are two known children. He died in 1896 in Holbeach Union Workhouse, Holbeach, Lincolnshire.

LONG SUTTON PETTY SESSIONS.

Friday, December 4th.

John Piggins was summoned by Michael Pattern for assaulting him on the 7th November at Holbeach, by pelting him. The defendant’s brother was called for the defence and denied that the defendant pelted the complainant as alleged. Case dismiessed.

SUDDEN DEATH.

It was reported that an inmate named Michael Pattern, from Holbeach St. John’s, had died very suddenly that (Thursday) morning. It transpired that the old man had breakfast with the other inmates, and nothing was noticed as to his condition. He was observed to be laughing when he left the breakfast-room, but shortly afterwards he expired. It was stated that an inquest would be held.
