Thomas Pattern was born c.1716. He married Jane Twiddy in 1766 and there are six known children. He died in 1776 in Terrington St Clement, Norfolk.

There’s a record of the burial of the (unnamed) "wife of Thomas Pattern" at Terrington St Clement on 29 Dec 1765.
Thomas is the earliest ancestor found but the only known reference to his age appears in the 1766 marriage banns to Jane Twiddy at Terrington St Clement which state that he “made Oath […] he is of the Age of fifty and upwards and a widower” (both Thomas and Jane were of Terrington St Clement in the banns1). Unfortunately that potentially matches two different baptisms, both at Sutton St Mary (8 miles west of Terrington St Clement):

Thomas’ marriage to Jane links him to Terrington St Clement, so almost certainly his is the burial recorded there on 16 March 1776 despite the register containing no age. Thomas’ previous (unnamed) wife was buried at Terrington St Clement on 29 December 1765 and, to date, no definite details of this first marriage have been found during research.4
When my late father, Mark Pattern, did his research into the family tree, he came to the conclusion that the parents of Michael Pattern (c.1768-1828) were Michael Pattern and Mary (née Cowley) of Holkham, Norfolk, who married there on 22 November 1767 and baptised a son named Michael on 31 December 1769 at Thornham All Saints, Norfolk. Unfortunately dad didn’t leave behind any notes. To my mind, Thomas is a more likely father due to his links to Terrington.

Jane Pattern of Terrington St Cement in the County of Norfolk, Widow mentioned in the Administration Bond hereunto annexed, maketh Oath and saith, That she verily believes Thomas Pattern late of Terrington St Clement aforesaid, farmer her late Husband, Deceased , died without any Will by him made : That she will well and truly administer all the Goods, Rights, Chattels and Credits of the said Deceased which at or since his Death have or shall come to the Hands or Possession of, her this Deponent, by paying the Debts of the said Deceased, as far as such Goods, Rights, Chattels and Credits will extend, and as by Law she is bound : That she will make and exhibit a true, full, plain, and perfect Inventory of all and singular the said Goods, Rights, Chattels and Credits, of the said Deceased and render a true and just Account thereof, when she shall be thereunto lawfully called.

“John Patorn” and Mary Jackson married November 1707 at Sutton St Mary. John apparently died 1714 or 1715 as the baptism of “Mary ye daugh of Mary Pattorn Widow” occurred at Sutton St Mary on 18 March 1715. Perhaps the burial of “John Pattorn” at Sutton St James on 4 December 1715 is a transcription error and should be 4 Dec 1714? The couple’s daughter Mary was buried at Sutton St Mary on 28 May 1711.
Widow “Eliz. Patthorn” was buried 11 September 1716, so perhaps the burial of “John Pattorn” at Sutton St James on 4 December 1715 was her husband.
One possibility is the “Thomas Potten” who married Martha Barton on 27 July 1740 to at Upwell, Norfolk, some 15 miles south of Sutton St Mary or 13 miles south of Terrington St Clement.
