Death
Sgt. Stanley George Richardson served in 107 Squadron (RAF). On 25 April 1942, he was one of a crew of four aboard Douglas Boston III AL286, along with pilot F/O Kenneth Niles Symons, Sgt. Ronald Edward Neathway, and Sgt. Edgar Dixon, who took off from Great Massingham at 8:10am as part of an attack on Cherbourg Power station and dry dock. Their plane was reported hit by flak and was last seen out of control and crashing into the sea off the French coast. Symons and Dixon survived and became PoWs. Neathway’s body subsequently washed up on the shore near Bournemouth but Richardson’s body was never found.
