Edna Marian Petch was born in 1929 in Holbeach, Lincolnshire, the daughter of Herbert Pooley Petch and Lillian May (née Pitts). She married John Stephen Mayfield in 1954 and there are two children. She died in 2016 in Lincolnshire.
At a dance at Holbeach on Wednesday organised by the local Athletic Club, six more Fast Elloe girls were chosen for the finals for “Miss Tulipland, 1953,” which take place at Spalding next Friday.
Ten girls entered. The six chosen were: Miss Pearl Richer (18), Holbeach St. John: Miss H. Parsons (18), East Elloe Avenue, Holbeach; Miss B. G. Payne (21), Hurnfield Farm. Fleet; Miss Edna Petch (23), Stukeley Road, Holbeach; and two Fleet sisters, Miss Yvonne Coutanche (20) and Miss Mary Coutanche (21).

A fireman and clerk employed by British Railways were married at Holbeach Parish Church on Saturday.
They were Miss Edna Marian Petch, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. P. Petch, of 22. Stukeley Road, Holbeach, and John Stephen Mayfield, only son of Mr. and Mrs. A. S. Mayfield, of “Rosedale,” Alexandra Road, Spalding.
Given away by her father, the bride was in taffeta with overskirt of net and lace bodice with veil, orange blossom and diamante. She carried carnations and fern.
The bridesmaids were Miss Olive Petch (sister), Miss Greta Mayfield (bridegroom’s sister) and Christine Green (bride’s niece). They all wore lavender taffeta with matching hats.
The two elder bridesmaids wore brooches (gifts of the bridegroom), and carried carnations and lavender. The younger attendant wore a cross and chain, and carried a posy.
Mr. R. W. Short was best man, Canon P. E. Boswell officiated, and Mr. Stewart Smith was organist.
About 80 attended the reception at the Women’s Institute Hall.
The honeymoon was spent in the Isle of Wight, the bride travelling in a grey costume with navy accessories.
The future home will be at Church Street, Holbeach.

Edna Mayfield. Passed away at home surrounded by her family on 1st September 2016, aged 86, after a short illness bravely borne. Edna was a Mum, Nan and Great Nan who will be missed by many. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday 13th September 2016 at South Lincolnshire Crematorium, Surfleet at 3pm. Family flowers only.
