This website is developed and maintained by Dave Pattern and continues the research into the family trees of my parents Mark Pattern and his wife Olive Petch, which my late dad carried out during his retirement at a time when his four siblings — Pat, Roland, Tom and David — were still alive.

My parents were born in rural Lincolnshire and much of the tree is centred around the Holbeach and Long Sutton areas. The research also includes the Pitts and Overson surnames of my grandmothers.
Mark passed away peacefully in July 2023 a few weeks after his 90th birthday and, at his funeral, cousin Stephanie asked about his research. At that time, although I knew he’d researched the family tree, the only thing he’d passed on to me was an A3 sheet showing part of the tree. Stephanie was sure there’d be more but I feared it might have been lost on one of dad’s old computers. It wasn’t until some time later that we discovered a folder of old family photographs and also an annotated album which contained dad’s version of the family story. Not even mum knew about that and we were left wondering if dad had hidden his research safely away in the knowledge that one of us would eventually find it!
After his death, I was able to access his Ancestry account and recovered the tree he had created, which contained 99 individuals. Since then, I’ve continued his research and added over 700 more relatives. If you have your own Ancestry UK account, you can view the new tree online. The aim is to try and research up the tree (i.e. into the past) as far as possible but, for practical reasons, I’ve tended not to research down the tree for individuals once the core set up family surnames (Pattern, Petch, Pitts and Overson) have been lost through marriage.
The biographical details for individuals on this website are generated using the data in the above tree. On some of the pages you’ll find photographs, newspaper articles and some of my own research notes. I warmly welcome anything relatives — no matter how far distant — can add to help make the site more complete.
